The long and winding road
The road is a passage; people ride or drive on it, they jog, walk and cycle. It bears the marks of time. It's cemented but still manages to bear the Mark's of those who use it for passage. People tread on it to their destinations and go on their whereabouts, but the road never forgets. It's silent but carries memories of what once was, is and will be.
As the great Beatles once said:
" And anytime you feel the pain
Hey Jude, refrain
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders
For well you know that it's a fool
Who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder."
I wonder how Jude would feel in this day and age. The world is overpopulated, jobs don't pay enough to sustain, refugees keep increasing and people are dropping out of education as they can't afford it. Could she still not feel the world upon her shoulders? could she play it cool?
The economic problem is defined as " how to best use the limited resources to satisfy endless needs and wants."
Humans are greedy in their nature; we always want more than we can have. Just look at Adam and Eve, for example. They were in heaven and were one of God's most prized creations. However, that wasn't enough. They had to take a bite off the apple. Life would've been so different otherwise. Maybe there wouldn't be any lifeforms on earth as they would still be in heaven. I guess I should thank our human nature for my life as we were created due to greed.
It's that same greedy nature in which we strive for financial stability. We're enrolled, at an early age, in an education system which supports conformity and suppresses all individuality, so we can get a degree which costs more than we can afford all so that we can start a job which won't even pay enough to sustain that same suppressed individuality. We need to work for years before we can afford that sense of individuality. Some people slave off to more than one job.
I vividly remember my young self holding my mom's hand as she went about her day, how she struggled for us to eat and dress properly, how she soldiered on in an era that was plaged by soldiers committing misdeeds in the name and orders of the Saddam regime. Except that she soldiered on for her children, not some twisted political agenda. We're all soldiers: some of us soldier for fortune, some of us for fame and some of us soldier for their governments.
As I've said before, the road is long and winding. It remembers our struggles, blood sweat and tears.
